Cleaning

Cleaning products that are cruelty-free and environmentally-friendly are often packaged and sold at really high prices. While they may well be worth it, there are plenty of cheap, DIY alternatives.

Bicarb soda, aka baking soda, is good for scouring and whitening. Bicarb soda plus vinegar is a good drain-clearing combination.

Eucalyptus oil is a natural disinfectant. Clove oil is a natural mould killer - better than bleach, actually, which just whitens mould but doesn't kill it.

Vinegar makes glass sparkle.

My go-to, all-purpose cleaner which I always have a bottle of under the sink is:
~2 Tbsp. dish soap
~1/2 c. white vinegar
~1/2 tsp. eucalyptus oil
~1/4 tsp. clove oil
~2 c. water

You can easily make your own laundry detergent using this recipe, with only 4 ingredients.

I have a few tips and tricks in this post about things we learned when moving out of the flat we lived in for 5 years.
