Finger bling

We went to pick up the engagement ring yesterday.

We were pleasantly surprised when it came up at the register with a 50% discount.

Then Andy's parents took us for dinner at a yummy Thai restaurant. We got spring rolls, vegetable salad (like Thai Beef salad but with sauteed veggies instead of dead cow), and tempura-battered veggies with peanut sauce. It was all very good--I think we've found our new favourite Thai place in Townsville.

The ring looks amazing - congratulations! I agree with Amy, you both look so happy in this photo. (:

I love how you post about yourself and vegan food - it's always fun to catch up on your news. But, anyway, I'll be in Australia from Dec 16th through Jan 4th, and my friends assure me we'll have "heaps" of fun. (: Good luck on the conference paper - I've got an abstract due next Monday. Yay!

Beautiful in all kinds of ways. What kind of stones are in the ring? I'd be interested to know if people recognize it as an engagement ring. My ring has a sapphire and no diamonds, and although it looks like an engagement ring to me, only one person asked if it was during the year we were engaged.

Hi Amy,

The black stones are actually man-made diamonds--the kind used in saws and other tools.

And the sparkles down the sides of the band are actually not stones, but textured gold.

So far the only people who noticed were Andy's parents when they were visiting. I've purposely shown a few people, but as yet no one has asked about it. I'll be interested to see how it goes :)
