I've been tagged by Bethany over at Vegology.
The Rules:
1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
So...
Random fact #1: I've always had a fear of escalators. When I was little, I heard stories about a mystery kid in some mystery town who got his shoe laces stuck in the escalator and he was literally torn up and had to get millions of stitches. Ever since then, I've been super-nervous when I get on and off escalators.
Random fact #2: I'm trying to write a lit review on social movement theories. I don't want to do it, so I waste time looking at blogs and checking my email every 5 minutes.
Random fact #3: I hated onions until I went vegan.
Random fact #4: For the past few weeks, I've been going to bed with socks on every night. But at some point I get hot and kick them off, so there are a few pairs of socks between the sheets at the end of the bed.
Random fact #5: I've never gotten my driver's license. When I turned 21 I had to get my permit renewed so I would have ID to bring to the bar. I ride a hot pink and green bike that I got for $15 instead.
Random fact #6: Andy and I have been out to dinner 1 time in 2007. Townsville isn't terribly vegan-friendly.
Random fact #7: My kitchen is still pathetically understocked. I don't own a muffin/cupcake tin, potato masher, rolling pin, or any other fancy gadgets. It was only two weeks ago that I bought a (second-hand) mixing bowl, and a month before that we got a cookie sheet.
Random fact #8: I'm 22 and working on a PhD, which doesn't seem that weird to me, but nearly all of my fellow students are old enough to be my parents!
I'm going to ignore rules 5 and 6, and not tag anyone. I have seen this meme around at most people's blogs, but if you haven't participated yet, consider yourself tagged!

I enjoyed reading these random facts, Theresa! 22 working on a phd?! you are one smart vegan cookie! Good question below - we should be united.
I'm with you on number 2 and number 5!
Somehow it always feels good to find someone else who hasn't learned to drive--though I'm going to suffer for it soon, when the car-driving hubby goes overseas for three months and I'm left catching the bus--a 50-minute ride to uni.
And Vicki's right--22 is impressively young to be working on a PhD! Most students here are at least 23 or 24 when they start.
BTW, we've now tried the Boysenberry So Good ice cream you mentioned. I love it!
very interesting facts! #1 scared me, and now I too perhaps will develop a fear of escalators, haha.
It's never too late to learn to drive you know ::grin:: Trust me, if you can get a PHD you can learn to drive!!
I have that same strange fear of escalators but for me I panic about my kids getting their clothes caught in them and being torn to shreds. I make them hold hands and hop them RIGHT over the edges. They think I'm mad. All they want to do is hang off the handles ::shudder:: and jump over the bottom bit ::double shudder::
Cool info on you... i was surprised about the onions. Glad you like them now!
i've never been a fan of escalators either, for the record. Never. i walk up or down them instead of letting them walk ME.
Sounds like a housewarming party is needed... we need to get you some kitchen gadgets! :o)
Way to go on gettin' that Ph.D. - how utterly amazing! Inspirational... just an FYI on that... at least to me, the one lucky to get her B.A. in journalism, by the skin of my teef at SDSU, i barely graduated!
Do you ever want to get a driver's license? It's so hard to get around here in SoCal w/out a car... very dependent on driving, how unfortunate but true!
Again, nice to find out more about you!
I didn't have any interest in getting my license when I turned 16. I finally reluctantly got it when I was 19 or so. I want to be more of a biker than a driver, but those pesky Syracuse winters...
You are a very young phd student! When I started my program, I was 23, and also one of the youngest people in my program. I enjoyed reading your list- procrastinators unite!
veggie girl--I'm sure that story isn't true, but it just stuck with me. I think my supa-paranoid grandmother fed us lies so we would be careful!
vegetation--ack! I hate when kids hang off the hand rail! It makes me so nervous!
kleopatra--a housewarming party would be nice! I've never really wanted to get my license... I tried driving a few times, and it just stresses me out so much. And now I'm in a country where they drive on the opposite side of the road, automatic cars are hard to find, and there's lots of roundabouts! I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon. It's nice and warm so I can bike and bus.
bazu and veganista--get to work!
Congrats on your PHD. I am totally impressed. As for the escalators, my brother (when he was 7ish) rode up one, sitting down wearing his sweatshirt tied around his waist. The sweatshirt got sucked into the escalator and since it was tied into a knot, it started to suck my brother in with it. Luckily someone hit the stop button right away. Because the sweatshirt was pulled so tight into the escalator they couldn't undo the knot and had to cut it off of him. He was crying the whole time. I've always been very careful of escalators after seeing that happen.
Have you been to Hong Kong? The escalators there go twice as fast as any other ones I've been on. Just a warning!
